A bad job, I got too cocky. The one and only time I would ever mess up, and it almost cost me my life.It was dark, I felt like I was floating and being strangled all at the same time. It felt cold, so so so cold. I could hear the muffled sounds of what I believed to be screaming and yelling and an ache in my chest. God… the pain. I was in the most excruciating pain I have ever felt in my entire life. I couldn’t scream or move, all I knew was that I wanted to escape anything and everything I could feel, think, breathe, and hear. As the worst and the best moments of my life flashed before my eyes, I closed them as tight as possible and held onto every single good feeling I had throughout my life. I could feel everything slowly fading, hear the screaming getting quieter, and I was feeling warmer and warmer…Cozy warmth, so cozy. A heat, intensifying, hot, so so hot, a fire, BURNING. Molten hot lava in my veins, I CAN’T TAKE THIS!I opened my eyes and shot my torso upwards, biting into something sweet and succulent.
“Shhhh, I got you, I got you. My darling you’re back here with me, you’re okay, you’re going to be okay.” Through choked sobs Nyght says with his arms around me, holding me tight like my bones could snap at any moment. His voice startles me and I recoil. I just bit him, I just bit my significant other. I look at his eyes as they already begin to look sunken, dark, and tired. I watch in horror as I see where I bit him turn black and purple, blackened tendrils make their way up his face towards his eye, and down his chest. The color from his hair completely draining and dying, turning his hair black.
“I- I- I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean- I don’t-.” He stops me.
“Don’t apologize, my Love. I did what I had to do to save you, I am so sorry. I bit you, I injected you with my venom. I didn’t know if it was actually going to work, I mean I’ve only heard legends and tales of vampire venom kickstarting a dead heart and I just-” he rambles, stumbling over his words. I threw myself back into his arms and sobbed, the memories of death already beginning to fade.
“I was so scared… everything hurt so much… Death felt so real and I thought I was going to lose you forever. Thank you, thank you. I love you so so much.” I say as I kiss him. We pull away to find the puncture wound still in my chest, but my skin and muscles beginning to regenerate. Nyght looks at me with tears in his eyes and a subtle smirk, “How’s it feel to be immortal..?”Through an intense recovery process and getting adjusted to the burning venom in my veins and an insatiable thirst, I became what I am today. A half Kitsune, half Vampire Assassin with a renewed vigor and unsatiated bloodlust for revenge. Nyght and I’s bond grew stronger than ever and we are now the unstoppable forces that keep our Lunatics safe.
